Award Lists:

ALA Book Media Award Recipients- Complete listing of annual book and media awards administered by the American Library Association and its divisions, with links to lists of medal winners and honor books to the present year. These awards include the Caldecott, Newbery, Printz, Alex and Geisel Awards, the most well-known in children's and young adult publishing.

Caldecott Medal- Annual award administered by the Association for Library Service to Children division of ALA to the artist of the most distinguished picture book for children.

Coretta Scott King Award- Given to African American authors and illustrator for outstanding inspirational and educational contributions.

Newbery Medal- Annual award administered by the Association for Library Service to Children division of ALA to the most distinguished contribution to literature for children.

Notable Children's Book List- Association for Library Service to Children's 2008 Notable Children's Book List. "The Best of the Best" according to the world's largest association dedicated to the support and enhancement of library service to children.

Theodor Seuss Geisel Award- The American Library Association's Theodor Seuss Geisel Award is given annually to the author(s) and illustrator(s) of the most distinguished American book for beginning readers published in English in the United States during the preceding year. The winner(s) is recognized for their literary and artistic achievements that demonstrate creativity and imagination to engage children in reading.

Suggested Reading Lists:

Children's Book Council Reading List- Links to reading lists on a broad range of topics from elections and social studies, to kids' choices, building a home library and teddy bears. Maintained by Children's Book Council.

Jon Scieszka's Guy Reads- Jon Scieszka, author of Stinky Cheese Man and the Time Warp Trio, whose website focuses on boys and literacy. Scieszka is the Library of Congress' current National Ambassador for Young People's Literature.
