“Wow! I never imagined that there could be such a Chinese collection here!”

This is an exclamation from nearly each Chinese visiting our library. The Chinese patrons coming from different corners of the Lehigh Valley enjoy the collection and are relieved from their cultural homesickness.

        Our library is the only area library which has a collection of Chinese fiction, nonfiction, newspaper, periodicals, and audiovisual materials. To meet the needs of Chinese patrons coming from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and other countries of Asia, our collection covers classic and contemporary works, simplified and traditional characters, and our monthly purchases always highlight the flavor of updated patron interests.

Unless you are in a foreign country, you cannot understand how people thirst for anything in their own language. Our Chinese patrons treasure the items the library can get for them, but donations of material also are especially appreciated when you are willing to share your interests with others.
