This library ship visits counties that exist along the shores of Norway. It has a library of 53,300 books, but only room for 6,000 at once, that’s how popular the books are! This library began operating in 1959 and is still in service for roughly 130 days out of the year. In addition to lending out books, the Epos provides programs for both children and adults, just like a regular library!
The name “Epos” means an epic, poetry, a group of poems, transmitted orally, concerned with parts of a common epic theme, or a series of events suitable for treatment in epic poetry. The name is fitting for a book with collections of stories traveling around creating new stories.
We only have one more post this coming week in the Escape the Ordinary series. See you then!
