Happy Friday! As I mentioned last week, February is “Library Lovers Month!” In honor of this wonderful month here are three articles with some of the most absolutely beautiful libraries throughout the world. What sticks out to me most when I look at these pictures is just how versatile libraries are. No matter what they look like, they all have the same wonderful function.
This article by Best Value Schools lists and details 50 of the most beautiful libraries in the world which include a mix of modern technological architecture and old-world, classical styles of libraries. Similarly, this article by Architectural Digest details their picks for the most beautiful libraries. What’s nice about this article is that for the majority of libraries, they have included one picture of the outside of the building, and one of the interior.
In 2015 BBC Culture “asked readers to share the most beautiful libraries they’ve ever visited anywhere in the world.” This is their list of the top 10 libraries, and they are indeed beautiful!
“A library is a building where recorded information is kept, in any form…but a library is much more than just the building…they are open to everyone free of charge, for entertainment, pleasure, education and business” –by John Malam in Library.
Obviously lacking in these articles is Lower Macungie Library, but maybe one day we’ll make the list!
