This year, National Library Week occurs on the week of April 12. For the next few Fun day Friday’s, we will be taking a look at some aspects of the Library that you may not know about, but should. The American Library Association recognizes a Code of Ethics, which we here at Lower Macungie Library strive to abide by.
“We significantly influence or control the selection, organization, preservation, and dissemination of information. In a political system grounded in an informed citizenry, we are members of a profession explicitly committed to intellectual freedom and the freedom of access to information. We have a special obligation to ensure the free flow of information and ideas to present and future generations.”
A public Library is one of the greatest freedoms in any society, a freedom to information, without censorship.
