National Book Awards

On November 16th the 67th annual National Book Awards, presented by the National Book Foundation, took place. One winner from the four categories of Young People’s Literature, Poetry, Nonfiction, and Fiction were announced by Larry Wilmore. Colson Whitehead won Fiction with The Underground Railroad, Nonfiction went to Ibram X. Kendi for Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America, Daniel Borzutzsky’s The Performance of Becoming Human won for poetry, and the Young People’s Literature winner was John Lewis, Andrew Aydin, and Nate Powell for March: Book Three.

The four winners reflect the current atmosphere of the world, without being overly political or divisive, while still continuing very important discussions. Check out the winners and runner-up’s and see if you agree!
