Obama made an interesting point then, stating that while more people are reading now more than ever, people are focused upon their own genre niche – that is, not many people branch out to new subjects and areas. He gives the example that people read “stuff that reinforces their existing point of view.” This is true, and happens often when people are so focused on proving themselves right, they do not look at other perspectives. It’s important to always step outside of your boundaries, and try something new. Read something that you don’t necessarily agree with, just to expand your knowledge! You’ll never know when you’ll be exercise a new nugget of information you just experienced.
