What 17 Adults Learned From Rereading Their Favorite Childhood Books

There’s something special about a book that speaks to you no matter what age you are.  This article features seventeen adults who went back and read their favorite books from childhood, and what they learned from the experience.  The results range from the funny to the meaningful and touching.  Sometimes when you read a book, the meaning isn’t always apparent on the first read, or you may have not had certain experiences to fully grasp what the book’s meaning is.  One reader describes the significance of Harold and the Purple Crayon, by Crockett Johnson: “Although sometimes frightened by his own creations, or drawing himself into confusing and isolating situations, Harold ultimately realizes that his life is for him to forge, and him only.”

No matter what stage of life you are at, sometimes children’s books offer the best advice.  Remember that “it’s never too late to go back.”
